An Emmy winning veteran investigative reporter, Jonathan Carlson joined CBS46 as Chief Investigative Reporter in October 2017. He comes from WXYZ, the iconic ABC affiliate in Detroit, where he was part of the nationally recognized investigative team.

Carlson is known for his aggressive reporting style, often breaking stories, landing exclusives, and holding the powerful accountable.

Since coming to Atlanta, Carlson launched the station's award-winning investigative franchise, "The Bulldog", built around his brand of accountability reporting.

From exposing scandal at Atlanta City Hall, to being the only reporter in America to track down and confront embattled R&B star R. Kelly outside his Chicago recording studio, weeks before he was indicted on sex abuse charges. His investigations have been honored by the Georgia Association of Broadcasters, as well as multiple Emmy nominations, including a win for Outstanding Investigative Report.

He has broken countless stories of local and national importance, which have led to major reforms.

Carlson has also worked at WNCN in Raleigh, WSPA in Spartanburg, SC, KTXL in Sacramento, WBBH in Fort Myers, FL and WOKR in Rochester, NY.

Before entering TV News, Jonathan spent a number of years as a print reporter. He began his journalism career at the young age of 16, reporting for his hometown newspaper, and then moving to larger city dailies.
