An advertisement from Republican governor candidate Brian Kemp is getting a lot of attention and a university professor who spoke with CBS46 News has an interesting take on the video.
The ad shows candidate Brian Kemp surrounded by weapons while he holds a shotgun. He also schools a young man named 'Jake' on the rules of dating his daughter.
Dr. William Boone, a political science professor at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, talked with CBS46 News about the ad.
"Guns become kind of a symbol for holding onto certain other kinds of things and a way of life to preserve," said Boone. CBS46's political reporter Giovanna Drpic then asked Boone what way of life he was referring to. "Well, in some instances, it may be white supremacy," continued Boone.
CBS46 reached out to the Kemp campaign and they told us this:
"Brian Kemp is a conservative. Get over it. He loves his daughters, values our 2nd amendment rights and will be an unapologetic fighter for our families as Georgia's next governor."
