Armored truck robbed outside gas station in Marietta

Police are looking for an armed man who walked up to an armored truck and made off with a bag of money.

The brazen robbery happened at a QuikTrip gas station in Marietta. Police say the incident happened around Noon on Tuesday.

Investigators say a man on foot walked down from a hill, saw the armored driver with a bag of money and capitalized on it.

Police are combing through surveillance video to find out more details about how this money was able to get away with a bag of money.

Police say the man has shoulder-length dreadlocks, a full beard and was wearing a dark green shirt, khaki shorts and black shoes.

Marietta Police said a Loomis Armored truck was either picking it up or dropping off at the QuikTrip gas station off of Power Springs and Sandtown in Marietta. Investigators say the man approached the driver of the truck, saying he had a gun and demanded the bag of money he was carrying.

Police said after the suspect got the bag, he took off on foot.

Officers spent hours canvassing the area but have not been able to find the suspect.

“We need your viewers’ help,” said Marietta PD’s Chuck Philamy. “Someone out there will recognize this individual. We need your help identifying him.”

No one was injured during the incident, and investigators said the man took off with an undisclosed amount of money.
