CBS46 is holding a special edition of our 4 p.m. newscast to sit down with experts on and survivors of domestic violence.
Any person, no matter their age, ethnicity, race or sexual orientation, can be victims of domestic violence, and it doesn't just include physical abuse. According to the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence, it also includes things like name calling, put downs, extreme jealousy, controlling where the partner goes and who they talk to, not allowing that partner to spend time with friends and family, and controlling the finances. It includes making threats to the partner, children, pets, family and friends.
The GCADV has a useful portal where victims of domestic violence can seek shelter:https://bit.ly/2uvapw2
. You can also call the 24-hour GA Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-33-HAVEN (1-800-334-2836).
