DPR Construction is working with the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta to help students launch construction careers at a time when the industry is seeing a shortage of staff.
Construction companies in Georgia are struggling to recruit qualified workers and increase staff.
DPR Construction held an event in its Atlanta office for more than 15 members of the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta called Career-Wise Wednesday.
The event allowed high school students to shadow DPR executives to learn about both office and labor positions, as well as other skills like interviewing tips.
DPR also hosted rising Booker T. Washington High School senior Montavious Griffin, who was an intern on an $80 million office tower project, Anthem Tower, in Midtown Atlanta. Griffin’s dream is to be an architect, and his internship provided him with the opportunity to learn about pre-construction, construction management and marketing.
