Two construction workers are safe after hanging from a building in midtown Atlanta when a scaffolding snapped early Friday evening.

The incident occurred at the Icon Building around West Peachtree and 14th Street.

Authorities tell CBS46 the two construction workers were on the scaffolding platform on the 38th floor when it snapped. For some reason it collapsed on one side.

The tools and other items fell, striking electrical wires and cars below.

CBS46 reporter Adam Harding spoke to witnesses on the scene.

An explosion was reported and officials say it was from items hitting electrical wires.

Both construction workers are safe.

Meanwhile, officials say they're still trying to safely bring the scaffolding down without causing injuries.
