Georgia has recorded the highest number of COVID-19 deaths in a single day.
The Georgia Department of Health on Tuesday reported 145 new deaths and 6,006 new cases of coronavirus added in a single day. The previous record was 129 deaths in a single day on Aug. 11, 2020.
In total reports 3,165 confirmed cases were added Monday; though still a steep increase, it is a reprieve from Dec.22 when there was a reported 6,242 cases added in a single day.
In total, 648,694 cases have been reported statewide, 10,444 people have died and 7,799 have been admitted to ICU. The hardest hit in the state continues to be those at long-term assistance facilities.
