Creflo Dollar to congregation: 'I should never have been arrested'

Creflo Dollar

The pastor of an Atlanta megachurch was back behind the pulpit Sunday, 48 hours after being arrested for allegedly choking his 15-year-old daughter.

Creflo Dollar, leader of the 30,000-member World Changers Church International, told his congregation Sunday that a family conversation in his household turned "emotional" Friday, and that things escalated. However, he denied ever attacking his daughter.

"The truth is, she was not choked, she was not punched, there were not any scratches on her neck," said Dollar to his audience. "I should never have been arrested."

Dollar was greeted with a standing ovation and regular applause from thousands of people in Sunday's service.

Fayette County police said they responded to Dollar's house Friday night and arrested him. He was charged with misdemeanor battery and cruelty to children.
