Fallen tree traps woman inside vehicle

A tree crashed down on to the roadway, trapping a woman inside her vehicle Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened near the intersection of Collier Drive and Linkwood Road near Harwell Heights Park in Atlanta.

City crews were able to remove the tree around 4:30 p.m. but power was out to residents in the area for about 4 hours.

"I heard a loud noise like something fell. Then the power went out," said area resident Mildred Thorpe.

It was an extremely tense situation for Thorpe as she uses an oxygen tank and the oxygen concentrator was lost when the power went out. She says the tank only lasts 4 hours.

"What I'm going to try to do is get at least a couple of more tanks because if Georgia Power doesn't get the lights back on I'm going to have to leave here," said Thorpe.

Meanwhile, the woman who was trapped in her vehicle has been freed and she is expected to be okay.
