Bianca Motley Broom

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. (CBS46) Bianca Motley Broom, the first black woman to be elected mayor in College Park history, was sworn in Monday.

Broom was sworn in during a ceremony at College Park Auditorium on Main Street in College Park.

Motley-Broom says although she appreciates the distinction of being the first black female mayor in city history, she has several goals to accomplish.

She also says she wants to make sure that city officials are forming strong partnerships with educational facilities in College Park and hopes to create an environment for strong small business.

Motley Broom was elected mayor of the city on December 3, following a runoff with incumbent Jack Longino. She has been a resident of College Park since 2008.

Two council members, Ambrose Clay and Ken Allen were also sworn in.
