A Floyd County Prison inmate who escaped from work detail Monday morning is back in custody after being captured near a convenience store.
Sean Powell walked off from work detail at Eastview Cemetery in Rome.
Powell was captured around 9 p.m. after a clerk at a convenience store spotted him and alerted police. He was picked up a short time later.
Powell was convicted on drug charges in Clayton County in April of 2017 and sentenced to three years in prison.
