Robb Pitts, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of Fulton County, has established a task force on human trafficking that will specifically address a crisis affecting middle school-age girls in Atlanta and Fulton County.
“I was shocked and disgusted to learn that Atlanta remains one of the top cities in the nation for human trafficking and child prostitution,” said Chairman Pitts. “Children are the future of our community and we will not allow them to be treated as commodities.”
Pitts says he will bring together a number of community leaders who are already engaged in the issue of human trafficking.
“A number of dedicated leaders and organizations are working on this issue, but we can be more effective through greater collaboration,” Pitts added.
This task force will make policy recommendations and identify resource gaps in meeting the needs of victims, as well as greater prevention efforts to keep children out of harm’s way.
