ATLANTA (CBS46) — Gas prices are still on the rise in Georgia, and it is really starting to impact peoples' wallets. Nationwide, the price at the pump continues to go in one direction -- up.

AAA says across Georgia, the average price of gas as of Monday was $3.24. The company says it now costs motorists $48.60 to fill up a 15-gallon tank.
"The reason that this is happening is because crude oil prices are still selling at over $84 a barrel," said Montrae Waiters, a spokesperson for AAA.
Barton Ackel says it is a sticker shock he cannot get over so he has been scaling back on how much gas he uses.
"They're way too high, just up 20 cents in the past two weeks per gallon," said Ackel. "I'm not happy about it at all."
"I don't go anywhere, hardly," said motorist Janet Jackson. "I put gas in my car and I try to run around one day and do everything I need to do and then I just sit at the house.")
"Unfortunately, we don't know at this time when we're going to get some relief at the pump," said Waiters.
