Gunmen target Lil Wayne's tour bus

A couple of tour buses containing rapper Lil Wayne and his crew were shot at early Sunday morning.

No injuries were reported.

Atlanta police said they responded to the 3300 block of Peachtree Road around 3:30 a.m. and found the vehicles had been shot multiple times.

The drivers told police the shooting happened on I-285 near I-75. Cobb County police also responded. Witnesses said they saw two white vehicles, possibly a Corvette and an SUV, leaving the scene.

The shooting occurred shortly after Lil Wayne left a performance at the Compound Nightclub on Brady Avenue in Atlanta.

Someone who is closely associated with the venue told CBS46 that a group of people attempted to confront Lil Wayne as he was leaving the building, but they were prevented from getting close by off-duty police who were working security.

The witness said the group left in vehicles matching the description of the shooting suspects.

CBS46 is following this story and will have more information as it becomes available.
