Jen Slipakoff

Cobb County, GA (CBS46) A candidate in a Cobb County state house race is trying to figure out who recently sent anti-Semitic texts to one of her campaign volunteers.

A swastika, an image of Hitler and hate-filled hashtags are some of the examples of things Democratic candidate Jen Slipakoff says was sent to one of her campaign workers.

It was in response to a campaign-related pizza party invitation.

The texts came just hours after Saturday's massacre of 11 Jewish people at a Pittsburgh synagogue.

"I did not expect to be targeted because of my faith and I especially did not expect to be targeted the day of a mass shooting of a Jewish community," Slipakoff told CBS46 News.

The Republican in the race, Ginny Ehrhart said in part, "the hatred by anyone because of someone's religion has no place in Georgia or the United States for that matter."

No one from Ehrhart's campaign was accused but police did identify the sender of the text messages. Because there was no specific threat, no arrests will be made and the case is now closed.
