Julie Smith joined CBS46 in the Summer of 2016. She is the traffic reporter for the morning news which airs weekdays from 4:30-7a.m and host of Atlanta Plugged In on Thursdays and Fridays at 12:30pm after the noon news.Julie has six years of experience with on-air and live event broadcasting. Prior to joining CBS46, she worked for numerous clients as a freelance talent in Los Angeles. Before that, she hosted a live, daily morning talk show on Louisville, KY's CW affiliate. Julie is the official red carpet host for Churchill Downs at The Kentucky Derby on the first Saturday in May. While in Los Angeles, Julie's client list included BET, Time Life, Acura and more. She interviewed celebrities such as Evander Holifield, Ne-Yo, Robin Meade, actor Ian Somerhalder, Rapper Ice-T and wife Coco, quarterback, Mark Sanchez, Brian McKnight and more. Julie is a native of Kentucky and credits her Southern roots with luring her out of Los Angeles and back to the lush surroundings and warm smiles abundant in the South.Julie says, “Growing up in KY with an appreciation for gorgeous greenery and southern hospitality, yet with an itch to explore, Atlanta is a happy medium and with the media/entertainment industry here being #3 in the country, it was a no-brainer for me to come here.”Being from KY also means that Julie was born into a religion of college basketball. She is a proud alumna and diehard fan of the University of Louisville Cardinals (Go Cards!)In her free time, Julie enjoys travel, kickboxing, football and basketball games, home décor projects, concerts and trying new restaurants.
