Atlanta Police have arrested Rashon Leiniel Banks for making threats of a Sep. 7 attack at Greenbriar Mall.

On Friday, there was a heavy police presence at the mall located in the 2800 block of Greenbriar Pkwy after a man made threatening phone calls.

According to the Atlanta Police Dept., officers responded to the mall around 10 a.m. after a threat was phoned in about the possibility of a shooting.

Officers checked the area and nothing has been located at this time. According to police, the man continues to make threatening calls to a crisis hotline.

Police located surveillance footage of the man at the mall and observed him place a backpack behind a dumpster. Investigators determined the bag was not a threat and were able to locate the man in the woods behind the mall.

Negotiators made contact with the man and he surrendered to police. He is being charged with making terroristic threats. No weapon was found, and officials are working to get the man in contact with professionals who can assist him with his crisis.
