Deputies in Forsyth County were forced to shoot a man after he barricaded himself inside a home, prompting a SWAT situation late Wednesday night.

The incident unfolded around 10:30 p.m. at a home on the 3800 block of Grand Prix Street in Cumming.

Deputies were called to the scene after receiving a 911 call about two men fighting in the street which led to shots fired. When they arrived on scene, the took one of the men into custody. The other man ran inside a home and barricaded himself inside.

A SWAT team was then called to the scene.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Department says the man then came out of the home with a handgun and shotgun. He refused to put down the firearms and was shot by deputies.

He was taken to an area hospital where his condition is unknown at this time.

The deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
