The GBI has been called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting following a three hour SWAT standoff.
On Friday Jonathan Wayne Allen barricaded himself inside his residence at 4 p.m. in the 600 block of Charlie Cooper Road in Braselton.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, the 37-year-old ambushed two officers while shooting at them.
One deputy returned gunfire and struck Allen before he retreated back into his residence. Soon after deputies learned a family member located in the home had been shot by Allen.
The female victim was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive.
After three hours Allen surrendered and was transported to a hospital. He is also expected to survive his injuries.
Allen is charged with aggravated assault against the family member. Additional charges are pending.
