A Cobb County man is behind bars after he used a pickaxe during a home invasion and allegedly threatened responding officer's lives by telling them he would set them on fire.

The incident happened during the early morning hours on July 27 at a home on Rosetrace Terrace in Powder Springs.

Police say Eric Clark Crawford used a pickaxe to break into the home before damaging several items inside. When officers responded to the scene, Crawford barricaded himself inside a crawl space.

When officers commanded him to surrender, Crawford began pouring gasoline out of a lawn mower and several other containers.

Crawford eventually came out of the crawl space and once he was in custody, Crawford allegedly admitted he thought he, "could light it and take a few of you out with me."

No injuries were sustained.

Crawford is facing several charges including terroristic threats, first degree-burglary, criminal trespass, reckless conduct and willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

He has been denied bond.
