GBI has been called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting at a Norfolk Southern property on Monday afternoon.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office says four deputies were at the property located in the 1500 block of Marietta Road to serve a warrant.

The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Levester Taylor was wanted for felony molestation of a child.

Sheriff Jeff Man says a deputy was attacked by a suspect with a metal object and repeatedly hit in the head when the shooting occurred.

As a result, Taylor was fatally wounded at the scene.

Witnesses say the suspect was a supervisor at ITS Con Global, the company that currently has the railroad contract.

The officer has been transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.

According to the warrant, Taylor molested the 12-year-old daughter of his former girlfriend on May 7 at the Fairington Village Drive apartment complex in Lithonia.

The victim told police she awoke to Taylor inappropriately touching her while Taylor stated he was trying to teach her about sex.
