A Newnan mother is out of jail after being arrested for drug possession and reckless conduct after allegedly smoking crushed up oxycodone pills in front of her 2 year-old son.
Courtney Hannah was allegedly smoking the crushed pills inside her vehicle while her son was sitting in the back seat.
Hannah is charged with drug possession and reckless conduct.
Her son is now in the custody of his grand parents.
This comes as the CDC released a new report on the opioid crisis, showing the number of overdosing deaths is both increasing and spreading.
Drug overdose death rates increased by 21.5 percent from 2015 to 2016, killing more than 63,000 Americans. 66 percent of those involved prescription or illegal opioids.
Heroin-related overdoses jumped 19.5 percent during that time. Cocaine-related deaths increased 52.5 percent.
