Neighbors react to woman shot by Clayton County sheriff

We are learning more about the woman shot in a model home in Lawrenceville by Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill.

Investigators say 43-year-old Gwenevere McCord was with Hill in a model home in the Park Haven subdivision when Hill shot McCord in the stomach.

Hill didn't give a statement to police on the scene. People who live in the neighborhood say McCord had only been on the job about 6 months and was friendly.

"She's a nice person. Very nice person," said resident Michael Daley.

"She always seemed polite and she always waved," said resident Stephanie Hill.

Now McCord is one of only two people who know exactly what went on in the model home where she was shot.

Stephanie Hill says that frustrates her because she and others who live in the neighborhood deserve to know what happened in the normally peaceful subdivision.

"It's just a quiet neighborhood and we've never had any violence here. To come home and see a bunch of agents and police everywhere, it kind of just shocked everybody," said Hall.
