police app

A new iPhone app will quietly record your interactions with police officers.

You can customize SIRI to open the app named The Police App with a simple word or phrase like "I’m being pulled over" or just "police."

The app will pause any music playing, turn on the do not disturb feature, dim the brightness level and send a text message to a preprogrammed contact of your choosing - alerting them that you are being pulled over.

The app will then start recording, using your phone's front camera.

Once you stop recording, video of your traffic stop or police encounter is sent to your contact.

CBS46 spoke with Steve Gaynor with the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 13. He said the more video, the better.

“I think video has helped us 99 percent of the time to clear up the case,” he explained. “The only thing I think that escalates the problem is if you're using your cell phone or holding it in the officer's face.”
