Sketch of suspect accused of rape in Peachtree Corners

The search for an accused rapist continues after the victim says she was raped by an unknown man while sleeping in her apartment in Peachtree Corners.

In the city of Peachtree Corners, you don't often hear about crime unless you live along Peachtree Corners Circle between Holcomb Bridge Road and Peachtree Industrial Blvd.

"There's been rapes, there have been shootings, there have been murders," said George Scott, who lives in the area. "It never hits the news."

Scott has lived in the area for 20 years and was not surprised to hear that police are looking for a possible rapist.

"The family was having a party, or gathering, the night before and it was a very small gathering. However, the suspect was not someone known to anybody at the party," said Cpl. Michele Pihera with the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Pihera said the man entered an apartment in the area overnight and began raping the woman while she was asleep.

"The sister told us that she walked into her sisters' bedroom, and that's when she saw an unknown Hispanic male raping her sister," said Cpl. Pihera.

"It looks like I've seen him walk past here," said Jose Rojas, who also lives in the area. "I think he might have walked to the store."

Crime stats show that there have been 36 incidents in the area during the past month, including battery, burglary and now rape.

Police say you can receive up to $2,000 for any information leading to an arrest in this case.
