If you're looking for a quick, in-state getaway where you can enjoy some good food, you're in luck.
CBS46 took its exclusive Restaurant Report Card on the road to the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Georgia this week.
The first stop was Helen, a popular tourist destination nestled in the mountains along the Chattahoochee River. There we visited Paul's Steakhouse at 8537 South Main Street, a spot that has been serving hand cut steaks and fresh seafood for nearly 50 years. Plus, it got an "A" on its health inspection.
Back on the road, the trip through the mountains led to the Deer Lodge. A local favorite at 7466 Hwy 17 in Hiawassee. It's been dishing out juicy steaks for 42 years. If you order a T-bone, expect it to hang off the plate. Plus, it received an "A" on their health inspection.
Just up the road in Hiawassee, The Blue Otter Restaurant is located on gorgeous Lake Chatuge at 3399 Hwy 76. Here you can enjoy a day at the lake and take in a meal with view. Some of The Blue Otter favorites include the carnivore burger with bacon and margarita pizza made from homemade dough. Plus, it cooked up an "A" on its health inspection.
Finally, the tour ended in Blairsville to stop at Steve's Steakhouse at 223 Wellborn Street, also known as the "Cookie Jar." When you walk in this restaurant, look up because you'll see nearly 400 cookie jars. Customers come here because they love the buffet with the fried chicken for under $9. Plus, it too received an "A" on its health inspection.
