ATLANTA, GA (CBS46) Health inspectors uncovered a pest problem at a local Mexican restaurant this week giving them a score in the 60's, but our Adam Murphy gets things started at a delicious Puerto Rican spot with a perfect health score.
I found a flavorful restaurant for you this week. We're at Sabores Boutique Cafe on Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton. This is fantastic, authentic Puerto Rican food. Everyone here is from the island and everything at the restaurant made from scratch, even the Mofongo. The artwork on the walls also comes from Puerto Rico. I can't wait to tell you about the items on the menu, but first here's this week's best and worst scores.
We uncovered serious health violations inside this Clayton County Mexican restaurant.
Ranchero on Tara Boulevard in Hampton failed with 62 points and a 'U' for unsatisfactory. The report says an employee handled a broom and dust pan and then stirred food without changing gloves. Plus, a bottle of antifreeze was stored on the shelf beside clean equipment, and the inspector found live roaches in the kitchen.
We asked the manager if roaches were really getting into food.
"No, no, no. Not at all," said manager Israel Toledo. "They were in the back and there was a gap between the gap and front door, I mean the back door.
- China Chef Cafe on Howell Mill Road in Atlanta scored 90 points.
- Wallace BBQ on Veterans Memorial Highway in Austell picked up a 95.
- Fogo de Chao on Piedmont Road in Buckhead received a 99.
Here at Sabores Boutique Cafe on Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton they received a perfect 100, and for that congratulations they are the winner of this week's Golden Spatula Award. When you come in you might want to enjoy a fresh pastry or you can enjoy some of these great dishes that they have as well. over here the fried red snapper cooked whole, isn't that amazing. They also have the grilled octopus over potatoes, they have the surf and turf Mofongo and they have the short rib. They said its traditional and really good here. Boy that's good!
