A sixth-grade male student was arrested Friday for bringing a weapon to school.

The incident occurred at East Hall Middle School in Hall County, which is northeast of Atlanta.

A student reported to a school administrator that another student had a weapon, according to the Hall County School District.

The school district says the student was immediately detained and a weapon was recovered.

The unidentified student was arrested by the Hall County Sheriff's Office and suspended from school, pending a disciplinary tribunal.

The school was placed on lockdown during the incident, which was eventually lifted.
