Police in Atlanta are looking for witnesses to come forward and have released surveillance video after three-year-old Thirigi Craig was shot and killed late Sunday night.

The child’s mother said a grey Dodge Charger pulled up to her vehicle at a stop light just before midnight when a driver showed what she thought was a paintball gun. She told police she heard a pop, but drove on.

The suspect fled the scene, and the mother noticed that her son wasn’t breathing while driving on Bouldercrest Road near Cecilia Drive. The child was transported to Eggleston but was later pronounced dead.

"According to the victim's mother, she was driving on Eastland Road near the City of Atlanta when a grey Dodge Charger came up next to her," said DeKalb County Police Chief James Conroy. "Then she heard a real gunshot. She didn't think anything of it."

Surveillance video from the scene has been released and police are asking anyone who may have any information on the case to come forward.
