A Marietta teen badly injured after she fell out of a moving vehicle and struck the pavement earlier this month has passed away.

Alyssa Prindle, 18, was seriously injured in the incident that took place during the early morning hours of July 5 on Johnson Ferry Road near Sewell Mill Road in East Cobb.

Police say Prindle rolled down the window of a vehicle being driven by 17 year-old Abigail Cook and proceeded to hang out of the window while yelling and screaming. She then fell out of the window and struck the pavement.

Prindle was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where she was hospitalized until passing away on July 25.

Cook was arrested and is charged with first degree vehicular homicide, underage driving under the influence, reckless driving, underage possession of alcohol, possession of false identification, and violation of class D drivers license hour restrictions.

After initially being released on bond, Cook is expected to return to the Cobb County adult detention center.
